San Bartolomeo Celebration Alicudi
On August 24 in Alicudi takes place the San Bartolomeo celebration, a very important holiday for all of the Aeolian Islands. The day of celebration of the saint patron of the Aeolian Islands recalls the attention of many tourists and is a particularly important day, celebrated on each island according to own traditions. In Alicudi the Saint Bartolomeo celebration is made of moments of pray and the statue of olive, kept in the new church of Alicudi, is carried during the procession on the shoulders of some of the inhabitants. After it there is the procession of the faithful who recite the rosary and sing chants. Once the procession is finished, the celebration starts in the evening. The inhabitants organize fireworks upon the sea, while on the pier it is possible to dance and to taste typical products of the island.
